Diabetes mellitus, commonly referred to as diabetes, is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood sugar levels over a prolonged period. It is a global health concern affecting millions of people worldwide and is associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Diabetes arises from either the body's inability to produce enough insulin or the ineffective use of the insulin it produces
What is Teneligliptin 20?
Teneligliptin 20 is a medication used to manage type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs known as Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. These drugs help regulate blood sugar levels by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the body after meals and decreasing the amount of glucose produced by the liver.
How Does Teneligliptin 20 Work?
When you eat, your body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose, which enters the bloodstream and raises blood sugar levels. In people with type 2 diabetes, the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or becomes resistant to its effects, leading to high blood sugar levels.
Teneligliptin 20 works by inhibiting the action of an enzyme called DPP-4. By doing so, it increases the levels of incretin hormones in the body, such as GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide). These hormones stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin and reduce the amount of glucose produced by the liver, helping to lower blood sugar levels.
